Lux summer by beschroeder featuring pave jewelry

As the days get longer and the weather warms So does my desire for all things barely there.  I found this cute barely there strapless dress the other day.  I love the bright color, it just screams out for some lux accessories, a big tropical drinky, and a poolside party .  I always have loved coral and pool blue.

outfit realization no.1

shirt: H&M $17.95, jeans: Paris Blues $14.99 @ Marshalls, Belt and Shoes: BEBE $50.00 and $119.00 respectively

Using polyvore.com to create fun and exciting outfits is great; the realization of those outfits is always a gamble.  Or Maybe it is just a gamble for me. Followers of sites like those given the very prestigious title of young and posh by Glamour Magazine, www.cupcakeaandcashmere.com and www.theglamourai.com just to name a few, would see that not all of us are so awkward in their outfit editorials.  I guess this is something you get better with through time and experience.  So here goes:  Some of you may remember A little bit leopard. Here is my version, hope you like.

What the husband thought:  He said that the belt created too many horizontal lines.  So the belt went.

artist i am loving: caia koopman

(Art by Caia Koopman reposted from http://www.caiakoopman.com/)

While scanning the internet the other day I came upon the beautiful art of Caia Koopman. I have been thinking about getting a quarter sleeve tattoo for a while and was thinking about a pinup but I think Caia's art is amazing. Maybe something like her's may be the way to go. Check out her stuff on her website: http://www.caiakoopman.com/

dresses

Dresses.
For some reason people today think that if you are wearing a dress you are going to some sort of fancy event. I guess that is why they call it getting dressed up? The reality of the situation is that a dress is like an adult onsie. We all know and love the onsie, especially if you have kids. This no effort outfit is just one piece. It requires no matching. It doesn't even have a waistband. The only difference with a dress is, yes some dresses have waistbands, people perceive that you are making an effort when you wear a dress. This makes it a great option for those not so hot days. A bright dress can pick up your mood, a flowy dress can conceal your fat day, and the right dress can make you feel effortlessly sexy. So yea for dresses, let's make them our go to fashion.

Above are some cuties under $50, below some ideas for accessorizing

rain, rain, go away

Today I was caught totally off guard in an early spring hail storm.  I swear it was sunny when I left the house but by the time I finished at the post office lowe and behold hail rained down from the sky.  If I know it is going to be rainy I like to keep things simple and warm.  Nice jeans, a comfy tee, and waterproof boots seem to do the trick.  I love love love the idea of wellies, like the ones below on Kate Moss, but I have very big feet and these flat rain boots never seem to be quite as flattering as I'd like, so I am condemned to my doc martins or some other closed toe shoes

new pink hair

There is a danger in dying your hair a truly unnatural color, you are condemned to matching your outfits to that color.  I have dyed my hair, or part of it, pink.  Now I plan to sort out my clothes and arrange them by color.  I figure this will make picking my pink based outfits easier.

flashback to maternity

When I was pregnant the idea of buying actual pregnancy clothes seemed like a waste.  I found myself shopping for regular clothes with a bit more volume to cover my growing baby bump.  In swoops the caftan to save the day.  This always trusted vacation wear is figure flattering and looks dressy enough to go from day to night.  I was only able to find tunic length  caftans when I was pregnant, but the one above can be a dress or worn over pants for a more conservative look.  This look was great while I was preggo and I can still wear the caftans and look chic sans baby bump, yea!

A little bit of leopard

a little bit of leopard

Outfit post No.1

Trying to look stylish while carrying a kid around can seem a bit daunting.  As long as you don't mind getting a little drool on you clothes it's not impossible.  Jeans are the quintessential mom wear.  They are easy, clean, and allow you to chase little kids and bend over to pick up babies.  The jeans above are skinnies (I only chose those because I bought a great pair with tons of stretch that make me feel thin) but any type work a geat boot cut makes everyone look thin.  A white button down is a little bit nicer than your everyday tee.  People may balk at the fact that I still wear 6in heels while carrying my 4 month old, but that was one of the things I refused to give up.   Obviously I currently carry around a ginormous diaper bag, but at least it's a coach diaper bag, but any cute purse works great.  I will try to recreate this outfit  and post the pics.

baby slings

Carrying a baby gets a bit cumbersome, especially when they want to be carried all day long.  I recently bought a baby sling in an attempt to make carrying my baby a bit more hands free.  Now this is not a new thought; before I had Alistair I bought another baby carrier: as seen here...

Looks great, right?  The carrier goes from back to front, has a hip strap, and daddy can wear it too.  This is all well and good, but getting the baby into the carrier takes a bit of effort and time.  This means Alistair has time to realize he doesn't want to be in the carrier, he wants mom to hold him.

When I bought the sling I figured I would give it a try and if it didn't work I'd just return it, no harm no foul.  The sling is wonderful!  I can put it on while still holding the baby, just slip it over my head and he's in.  I can roll it up and slip it into my diaper bag, this means instant hands free where ever I am.  The convenience and ease of use makes this baby accessory one of my go to pieces.  It is also very inexpensive just $20 for this Munchkin Jelly Bean sling at Target.  The only down fall dad refuses to wear it because of the flowers, I guess that's why we have the other one too.

No. 1

I moved got married and had a baby all in the scope of a few years.  All of the sudden I have a lot to do.  Does that mean I can't look cute doing it?  I am going to see if I can still encompass the role of cute girlfriend (even though technically I am a wife) and generally stylish chic while trying to be the fun mom.  Do you have to loose you sense of style when you have kids?  I hope not!
